Working with a Care Team
If you or someone you love is living with NSCLC, you'll want to be active in facing the disease. Below are a series of tips to help you talk openly and feel comfortable asking questions of the members of your Care Team:
Plan ahead. It's a good idea for you to take some time before each office visit to think about any questions or concerns you may have. You may want to keep a journal and write down any of these questions so you'll remember them.
Ask questions. To do all you can to cope with NSCLC you need to feel comfortable asking questions about the disease and learning about any treatment options available. Members of your Care Team understand how important your role is and should be open to answering all your questions, even if you ask them more than once, or in more than one way. To get the answers you need, remember to be detailed and specific.
Talk about treatment options. Together you and your doctor can decide what treatment(s) are appropriate to treat NSCLC. By knowing all you can about what the options are, you can help be more active in this decision.
