Deaton-Shaw is a partnership between the Deaton Law Firm and the Law Offices of David A. Shaw. The principals in Deaton-Shaw have a combined thirty years of experience in representing individuals and families that have been affected by asbestos-related disease. These individuals and their families hail from Quincy, Massachusetts, San Jose, California and everywhere in between. Unlike larger firms with dozens of lawyers, hundreds of staff members and thousands of cases, the attorneys and paralegals at Deaton-Shaw are able to work up each case individually and give it the attention required to maximize the result for each individual client.
John Deaton, a native of Michigan, graduated cum laude from New England School of Law where he was an editor of the New England Journal of Criminal and Civil Confinement. While in law school, he also received the American Jurisprudence Award for Clinical Evidence and was selected for the New England Law School’s National Mock Trial Team. Following law school, Attorney Deaton served in the United States Marine Corps, where he distinguished himself as a military lawyer in both prosecution and defense roles. He was, as a result, awarded the meritorious service medal in 1999.
Following his time in the Marines, John served as trial counsel at a national law firm specializing in representing individuals with injuries from asbestos and other toxic substances. He is now the principal in the Deaton Law Firm, specializing in the representation of individuals and families that have been affected by mesothelioma.
David Shaw, a native of New Jersey, graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the Connecticut Law Review. He is also the recipient of the Edward Stephenson Prize and the American Jurisprudence Award for Civil Procedure. Following graduation, he served for a year as a Judicial Clerk for United States Magistrate Judge Arthur Latimer in Connecticut, and then spent a number of years in private practice at a national firm specializing in toxic injury litigation. Ten years ago he struck out on his own to specialize in representing individuals who have contracted mesothelioma. He has been the principal of the Law Offices of David A. Shaw, LLC for the last ten years, and is now additionally a partner in the Deaton Law Firm.
